The aim of the Agnes Water State School Responsible Behaviour Plan is to encourage the development of a supportive school environment that leads to quality learning outcomes and to caring and self-disciplined students.

The Supportive School Environment Policy of Agnes Water State School reflects a direct link between the shared values and beliefs of the school community, and the practices and procedures that we follow.

We believe that.....

students own their behaviour and they can, and should be, self disciplined;

all students have the right to learn without hindrance in a co-operative, safe and non-threatening environment;

positive relationships are essential for effective behaviour management;

positive self-esteem enhances effective learning behaviour;

children behave more responsibly if their basic needs of love and belonging, freedom and choice, recognition and enjoyment are satisfied;

effective learning and teaching practices positively influence appropriate behaviour in students;

behaviour is chosen and students should be made aware that consequences of their actions will be consistently applied;

home/school collaboration encourages more positive behaviour in students;

children learn responsible behaviour from each other and other role models including parents, teachers and community members.
